Karnataka: Vokkaliga community warns against destabilizing JD(S) government

Bengaluru: After former CM Siddaramaiah has expressed his unhappiness over CM HD Kumaraswamy presenting the Budget, heads of two Vokkaliga community mutts have said they will not tolerate any attempt to destabilize the HD Kumaraswamy government.

CM HD Kumaraswamy also happens to belong to Vokkaliga community. The two Vokkaliga heads sent a clear political message to leaders opposing his government, Economic Indiatimes reported.

Speaking at the birth anniversary of Kempe Gowda which the community sees as the builder of modern Bengaluru, Vishwa Vokkaliga Mutt seer Chandrashekaranatha Swami has asked his community leaders and everyone not excluding anyone in BJP, to ensure Kumaraswamy completes five years without any menace.

While, Tumkur district-based Spatikapuri mutt head Nanjavadhutha Swami said the Vokkaligas community will not forgive any attempts made to dislodge Kumaraswamy government, warning the saffron party to maintain distance from creating any sorts of troubles for him.

According to Swami, Water Resources Minister D K Shivakumar was being harassed (through income tax raids) because he helped stitch the JD(S)-Congress alliance which is not being taken well by the opposition BJP party.

On the other hand Kuruba community leaders are supporting Siddaramaiah. The Kaginele mutt head Niranjananandapuri Swami has warned the Kumaraswamy government against transferring Kuruba community for political reasons stating the community will launch a state-wide protest if the officials occupying good posts are transferred.

The JD(S)-Congress Coordination Committee, headed by Siddaramaiah, will hold a meeting in Bengaluru on July 1 to solve the issues between the two coalition parties.
