Kasganj clashes: Families of detainees demand justice, sit outside police station

Kasganj: After communal clashes on Republic Day, many persons of Kasganj District were detained.

According to the report published in Hindustan Times, one of the detainees, Mateen Khan (27), a resident of Railway Phatak Colony is a daily wager. His mother, Jameeni Begum (55) claimed that her son has been detained without any reason. She was waiting outside the Kotwali Police Station on Sunday.

It may be mentioned that many detainees were taken to Kotwali Police Station.

Another woman, Rama Devi (52) was anxious to know about her youngest son Joginder (18).

Apart from Jameeni Begum and Rama Devi, there are around 50 women belonging to both religions, Hindu and Muslim waiting outside the police station. Some of the women are wives or sisters of the detainees.

They refused to return home. Sunita Devi, mother of one of the detainees said, “how can I go, everything is here”. She also said that her son was held when he was returning from the tuition class.

Mohd Naseeruddin Khan (70), another detainee said that he is a heart patient and asthmatic. When his son, Akram (22) tried to hold him, constable stopped.

When few women tried to supply food packets to the detained persons, SHO asked constables to send them out.

Commenting on the clashes, one of the women said that whatever had happened was wrong but why all are forced to pay price for the incident.
