Journalist Ajit Sahi who was part of the fact-finding team says the police sided with the accused right from the time of filing of the FIRs. He revealed that instead of one FIR for one incident, the police chose to file two FIRs, one for violence against Hindus and the other for homicide against Muslims. While the former got bail, the latter remained behind bars for several months.
Both the Hindu rallyists and CCTV footage of the incident revealed that it was the Hindus who gatecrashed into the flag hoisting function.
