Srinagar: PDP MLA Abdul Majeed Padder has expressed that his party is ready for possible tie-ups with BJP’s support to form a new government on Saturday.
With already 18 PDP MLAs ready to join hands with BJP party which already has 25 legislators, a new government can be possibly made in since the required number for forming is 44 in the house. The party is still in short of two more votes which it expects can be gained from People’s conference, TOI reported.
Expressing the PDP party’s willingness, Padder said: “When my leader late Mufti Muhammad Sayeed could go for an alliance with BJP, why can’t we form a government with BJP.”
His statement was a direct jab and a defiance of former CM Mehbooba Mufti’s public warning.
Though Padder has made his statement public sources in BJP does not want to have another stint in Srinagar. “We feel that a spell of governor’s rule is necessary and that a coalition which is hastily assembled cannot guarantee stability”, said a senior BJP leader.
But he, however, confirmed PDP MLAs plans for a new government.
On the other hand, former CM Mehbooba has already held important discussions with the party’s senior leaders and is likely to announce them soon according to a source.
The source also said a senior leader and PDP MP from Baramulla, Muzaffar Hussain Baig, is likely to be nominated as the party’s patron.
While Muhammad Dilawar Mir and Abdul Rehman Veeri will be given party responsibilities.
Yawar Mir MLA in Baramulla’s Rafiabad will be projected as the youth leader in the party, they said.
