KCR “backstabbed” BCs by slashing quota to 22%: Laxman

Hyderabad: Accusing Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao of back-stabbing the Backward Classes people, Telangana State BJP president Dr K Laxman today asked the State government as to why it BC reservation to 22 per cent, who have been enjoying 34% reservation since the last 30 years.

Speaking to the media here today, the BJP leader questioned the priority of issuing an ordinance by the TRS government reducing BC reservation. The government’s action amounts to back-stabbing the BCs, he said, adding that the ordinance was issued in view of local body elections slated to be held soon in the State. Alleging that the State government was not committed for welfare of BCs, Laxman said the TRS government was merely distributing goats, sheep and buffalos but not providing opportunity to BCs to represent in the elected bodies.

Demanding that the State government withdraw quota ordinance immediately, Laxman said the BJP would extend support to BCs till they get justice in reservation. He also accused KCR of visiting various States for his selfish gains in the name floating federal front. BJP MLC N Ramchender Rao alleged that names of some 22 lakh voters have been deleted from the voters list in the recently-held Assembly elections. He also alleged that some 70,000 voters did not find their names in the voter list in Malakgiri Assembly constituency alone. Demanding that the government initiate stern action against those responsible for deletion of voters’ names, he said the Election Commission should take immediate action to correct the voter list.
