KCR hikes pension to Rs 2,016 & Rs 3,016 allowance to jobless youth

Hyderabad: Announcing partial manifesto here today, TRS supremo and caretaker Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao today outwitted the Congress by announcing a hike in pensions to Rs 2,016 and unemployment allowance at Rs 3,016 and the same amount will be paid to physically challenged pensions. Besides, he also declared that 2.60 lakh double bedroom houses would be constructed for the poor.

Speaking to the media after participating in the party’s Election Manifesto meeting at Telangana Bhavan, Chandrashekhar Rao said the age limit for old age pension would be brought down to 57 years from the existing 60 years. While the pensions would go up to Rs 2,016 for various sections, the pension amount for the differently abled would be hiked from Rs 1,500 to Rs 3,016. The Rythu Samanvaya Samithis, which were set up to get the agriculture sector organised into a profit making occupation through various farming activities, would be made into a vibrant body and the members would be paid honorarium, he said, adding that persons who have land of their own will be given funds for construction of 2 BHK houses. He doled out sops for farmers, pensioners, employees and youth. KCR slammed the Congress for playing games and announced bonanza to all. The SCs & STs will get special schemes like Rs 10,000 per acre towards crop investment and Rs 1 lakh loan waiver for the farmers. He also accused the Congress leaders of making false promises to woo the people for elections in vain.

The ruling party will come up with schemes for the welfare of all sections, he said. Telangana stood first in economic growth with fiscal prudence and discipline at 17.17 per cent. Special programs for the poor in upper castes will be implemented and the employees will get dignified salaries, he said. Some eight lakh new pensioners will benefit by reduction in the age limit and those with land will get funding for double bedroom house.

The Chief Minister, who recalled the condition Telangana State was in at the time of its formation, said the government in the first year was skeptical about the finances, and hence was cautious while implementing welfare schemes. From the first year to the fourth year, the State recorded steady and phenomenal growth which encouraged us to not on implement our promises but also go beyond the 2014 assurances to the people of the State. He also assured that corporations for Reddys and Arya Vyasyas would be set up with sufficient corpus funds.

The Chief Minister rued that the State had not received any support from the Centre in the past four years despite Niti Aayog recommending Central support of Rs 24,000 crore for irrigation schemes. The State did not receive even Rs 24 from the Centre, he bemoaned.
