KCR’s nephew assures full support to Rama Rao

Hyderabad: With Telangana Chief Minister and Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) President K. Chandrashekhar Rao naming his son K.T. Rama Rao as the party’s Working President, his nephew T. Harish Rao on Friday assured the latter his full support.

KTR, as Rama Rao is popularly known, drove to Harish’s house to make a courtesy call.

Harish, who was earlier reported to be unhappy with KCR’s plans to promote his son as his heir apparent, congratulated KTR on being entrusted with the key responsibility and hoped that he would further strengthen the party.

Harish, who served as a Minister in KCR’s previous cabinet and is likely to be inducted in the new cabinet next week, told reporters that he and KTR worked together in the recent elections and they would continue to do so.

Before KTR’s visit to Harish’s house, the latter took to Twitter to congratulate him. KTR replied to the tweet with thanks.

Many leaders including All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) chief Asaduddin Owaisi congratulated KTR.

KTR tweeted that he humbly accepts the responsibility. “Shall serve to the best of my abilities to strengthen the confidence shown by people in the leadership of KCR Garu”

A day after taking oath as the Chief Minister for a second consecutive term following landslide victory, KCR on Friday named his son as the Working President of TRS.

The TRS chief said since he would be focusing on the national politics, he was aentrusting the responsibility of taking forward the party to KTR, the most trusted person in the party.

Harish, considered as a leader with a mass base, has been associated with TRS since it was floated by KCR in 2001. KTR, who quit his job in the US to return and join Telangana movement before the 2009 elections, is considered number two in the party and the government.

There have been reports of a cold war between the two leaders in the past.
