Kerala floods: BJP MLA’s remark triggers row

Bengaluru: Hundreds of people lost their lives in Kerala floods whereas over one million are taking shelter in various relief camps spread across the State. The floods have disturbed the normal life of the people.

Many celebrities, NRIs and other philanthropists have donated for the relief work in the State. On the other hand, BJP MLA has made a remark which has triggered a row.

According to the report published in The Asian Age, talking about Kerala floods, Vijayapura’s BJP MLA Basanagouda Patil Yatnal has linked Kerala floods with slaughter of cows openly.

He also said that BJP will stop cow slaughter if the party comes to power in Karnataka.

It is also reported that the BJP MLA is known for his remarks. Earlier, he had made a controversial remark about intellectuals.

It may be mentioned that earlier, self-styled Godman Chakrapani Maharaj had made a controversial statement suggesting that the beef-eating Malyalis should not receive any kind of help in rain-battered Kerala since the act of killing cows have caused massive floods and destruction.
