Kerala women arrested for assulting Uber taxi driver Shafeeq

KOCHI: Three women in their 30’s manhandled an Uber taxi driver in full public view on Wednesday afternoon at Vytilla .

According to media reports, the women identified as Clara Shibin (28), from Alakode in Kannur district, Sheeja Afsal (30) from Pathanamthitta and Angel Mary (36) are associated with the television industry, police said.

The women, all hailing from Kannur had opted for cab sharing through the aggregator’s app but got angry after finding an already seated passenger and demanded to evict the passenger.

When the driver identified as Shefeeq refused to evict an already seated passenger, the three had an altercation with the driver and they brutally assaulted him by injuring head and undress him by tearing away his shirt.

Shafeeq, , a native of Aroor was getting treated at Ernakulam General Hospital said, “One of them tried to remove my dhoti while another one hit me on the head with a rock. I suffered scratches on my face and they even bit my arm.” the driver told TNM.

Based on the complaint of driver, the women were booked under various Sections of IPC and were later released on station bail.
