Key posts in Waqf Board held by unqualified staffers

Hyderabad: It has been found that several unqualified persons are holding important positions in Telangana Waqf Board. While a SSC pass out is working as office superintendent drawing a salary of Rs 90,000 a month, a driver takes home Rs 34,000 a month. Besides, several employees are working without any formal appointment orders and getting hefty salaries.

As reported by DC, these facts emerged during the ‘House Committee’ discussion attended by AIMIM floor leader, Akbaruddin Owaisi and TS Waqf Board chairman, Mohammed Saleem and other public representatives to revive the functioning of the Minority Welfare Department.

The matter came to light when during the discussion Mr. Owaisi insisted the Minority Welfare Department to present the report about the illegal appointments, he was submitted a copy by the Waqf board officials. The report revealed that several unqualified persons were working at posts like office clerks, office superintendents, office subordinates and other positions.

A few such staffers had retired and availed of post-retirement benefits too. Nepotism is also rife in the department. After noticing these irregularities AIMIM floor leader, Mr. Akbaruddin Owaisi rapped the authorities saying that the Board is meant to help the community; how can the board run with inefficient staff? He demanded a CID inquiry into the case and prosecution of the offenders.
