Kim K opens up about difficulties she faced during Alice Marie case

Washington: Kim Kardashian West has opened up about the difficulties she faced in attempting for a successful release of a low-level drug offender, Alice Marie Johnson, from prison.

Alice Marie is a 62-year-old woman who was sentenced for life without parole for a non-violent drug offense at the Aliceville Correctional Facility in Alabama.

During the season finale of ‘Keeping Up With the Kardashians’, Kim revealed that she was shocked after learning that Alice had been behind bars for 21 years over a nonviolent drug crime.

“Six months ago, I stumbled across a story of Alice Marie Johnson,” Kim explained. “I first started with re-tweeting the story and I just kept on watching it over and just feeling how unfair this is and hoping that I could reach out and make a difference.”

While discussing Alice’s case with her sister Kourtney Kardashian, she expressed how the inmate’s life sentence was “just not fair.” Thus, Kim decided to reach out to the United States President Donald Trump’s daughter Ivanka Trump and discuss Alice’s story.

Ivanka then connected Kim to her husband Jared Kushner, who serves as a senior advisor to the President.
Although Kardashian West was a supporter of former US Secretary of State and then-Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton, she was then asked to meet Trump.

“Things keep moving and changing and it’s all really frustrating,” the 38-year-old reality TV star continued. “But I definitely don’t want to let Alice down, so it just pushes me, even more, to want to fight for her.”

After her meeting with Trump, Kim’s plea was resonated as Alice was given a pardon and released from prison.

“This is so crazy. We did it!” Kim told her attorney over the phone. “I am at a shoot so I cannot cry, but this is so crazy! I cannot believe we pulled this off.”
