Kodandaram denied entry into Nizamabad, arrested

Hyderabad: T-JAC Chairman Professor M. Kodandaram who was on his two-day Amarula Spoorthi Yatra [martyrs inspiration tour], was taken into preventive custody by the police. He was sent back to Hyderabad with a huge convoy of police jeeps.

As reported by the Hindu, he was also prevented by TRS activists from entering the district at Baswapur on NH-44 and later at Biknoor mandal headquarters. Earlier, TRS activists held rasta rokos and indulged in vandalism to prevent Prof Kodandaram and JAC functionaries from entering the erstwhile Nizamabad district. At least five T-JAC activists including students suffered injuries. Police denied permission for the rally amid the charged atmosphere and took them into preventive custody.

Meanwhile Prof. Kodandaram termed the police action of preventing the Amarula Spoorthi Yatra as most “undemocratic” and “barbaric”. He claimed that the yatra was intended to protect democratic values.
