NEW DELHI: Indian off-spinner Harbhajan Singh has slammed Hardik Pandya and KL Rahul for their crass and controversial statements on Koffee with Karan which aired on January 6.

The 38-year-old former off-spinner, who has shared the dressing room with Hardik Pandya for Mumbai Indians said that he will not be comfortable with both the cricketers on the same bus, where his daughter and wife on board.

“I will not travel with these two guys in the bus if my daughter or my wife are travelling in the team bus with me. How would they feel? You are looking at women in only one angle and that is not right,” Harbhajan, who took more than 400 Test wickets while representing the national team, told India Today.

He added, “We don’t talk about all this even with our friends and they were talking on public television. Now people might think was Harbhajan Singh like this, was Anil Kumble like this and was Sachin Tendulkar…”

The offie also said that both the guys bragging about their night outs with women had jeopardising reputation of cricketers which hurt him a great deal. He said, “It’s actually hurting us. He is bringing everyone’s reputation on the stake, including Sachin Tendulkar’s and all these great players who have played for the country for more than 20 years.”

He added, “He’s talking about using other teammates’ room. Come on man, what are you talking about? You have been in the team for only one year. What do you know about the team?”

Supporting the suspension, Harbhajan said, “Pandya has been in the team for how long to talk of the team culture in the manner he did. I think this is the way to go. The BCCI did the right thing, and this is also the way forward. This was expected and I am not surprised,” the off-spinner, who has over 400 Test wickets, said.” Harbhajan said.

The CoA in accordance with the BCCI has decided to suspend the duo from playing any form of cricket after their comments on a TV show. Pandya, who shared the couch with Rahul on the latest episode of Karan Johar’s show, faced backlash for what netizens termed ‘sexist’ and ‘disrespectful’ remarks on women.
