New Delhi: Lt Governor Anil Baijal has assured that all steps will be taken to ensure that Delhi government officers start working normally, Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal today said, asserting that everyone, including the bureaucrats, need to work together for the betterment of the city. Kejriwal, who and his cabinet colleagues met Baijal at his residence, said the governance in Delhi was suffering as officers have not been attending meetings with ministers for the past three days, in wake of the alleged attack on Chief Secretary Anshu Prakash by AAP MLAs at the chief minister’s residence earlier this week. “Officers not attending meetings for last 3 days. Governance suffering.
I m v concerned. LG assured he will take all steps to ensure officers started functioning normally. Council of ministers assured him all cooperation. All of us need to work together for betterment of Delhi (sic),” Kejriwal tweeted after meeting Baijal. Addressing reporters at Kejriwal’s residence, Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia said the chief minister and other cabinet colleagues would ensure that there happens no such incident that a situation like this is repeated in Delhi.
Asked whether Kejriwal would apologise for the alleged attack on Prakash, he said the incident has been narrated incorrectly and that a probe was underway into the incident.
Sisodia said that governance has suffered as officials did not attend meetings and several meetings had to be cancelled and decisions deferred.
“We are grateful to the LG that he is looking into the issue from the perspective of Delhi’s governance,” he said.
“The LG has assured that he will speak to the officials and ensure that work is not affected and work with ministers.” Kejriwal’s meeting with Baijal came after a Delhi Police team today descended on the chief minister’s residence and seized a hard disk of the CCTV camera system installed there in connection with the alleged attack on Prakash.
Police claimed that its action came after its request for CCTV camera footage from Kejriwal’s residence was not met.
