Land Survey: 77 thousand acres of wakf land facing danger

Hyderabad: More than 77 thousand acres of wakf land is facing threat. It is reported that according to Revenue Records, only 10 thousand acres of land has been registered as wakf.

Wakf Board does not have valid documents to protect wakf properties.

It may be mentioned that Govt. of TS had started land survey which would continue till 15th December but Wakf Board does not seem to exhibit any interest in protecting 77, 731 acres of wakf land. Revenue authorities are not prepared to accept the claim of Wakf Board about 60 thousand acres of wakf land.

It is reported that the lands shown in Revenue Records as wakf properties are in the possession of illegal occupants who are claiming their ownership. Wakf Board is not in a position to establish its claim on these lands.

Wakf Board so far has not taken any action to submit the relevant records at Mandal level. Tehsildar will decide the cases based on the claim of Wakf Board. If his decision is against the Wakf Board, an appeal could be made to RDO or Joint Collector.

It may be mentioned that Wakf Board has not prepared separate records for the newly formed 31 districts. It has sent records as per the old districts. For example, Adilabad District has been divided into three new districts but Wakf Board has not separated these records.
