LB Nagar flyover Opens for public; Rs 42 Cr spent

Hyderabad: The much awaited LB Nagar flyover was today started giving a major reprieve to people from regular traffic problems. Home Minister Mahamood Ali, Animal Husbandry Minister T Srinivas Yadav and Labour Minister Ch Malla Reddy, Mayor B Rammohan opened the flyover at LB Nagar cross roads for general public. Deputy mayor Baba Fasiyuddin, MLA Sudhir Reddy, and GHMC Commissioner Dana Kishore and others attended the program.

The flyover was built at a cost of Rs 42 crore and the launch was delayed by a month. Speaking on the occasion, Mahamood Ali said that the flyover in LB Nagar will address the long awaited traffic problems. The government is spending huge funds for providing better public transport system through roads, infrastructure and facilities.

Like no other city, Hyderabad is being developed as a global city. Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao is keen on better connectivity to the people in the city and in districts, he claimed. Also to reduce traffic problems, the under pass will be operational, he said. The people can use the flyover to reach Vijayawada or other areas from this cross roads. The city provides people ample space to make a better living, he said. The flyover will reduce traffic problems towards Hayatnagar, Choutuppal and Vijayawada and other areas.
Srinivas Yadav said that the flyover was taken up under package two through Rs 25000 crore SRDP project. Hyderabad will become signal free city through these flyovers and Rs 448 crore being spent for underpasses and flyovers near junctions, he said adding that Biramalguda and Kamineni flovers are ready for the launch to further reduce traffic problems.

Malla Reddy said that the flyover is 780 mt long and 12 mt wide and will reduce 90 per cent of traffic problems. Number of vehicles before metro rail was 14,153 and after metro it is 8916 and will be 21,990 by 2034.
