Learning scuba diving a perk of ‘Porus’: Aditya Redij

Mumbai: Actor Aditya Redij, who is seen as King Bamini in “Porus”, says one of the perks of being a part of a huge television show like this is that he is now a certified scuba diver.

The show’s team had shot a portion in Thailand and that gave some of the actors a chance to train for underwater scenes.

“The team was in Thailand for a month. We had to go to Thailand a week before the entire crew and went through scuba diving training there. I am now a certified open water scuba diver, and I can dive anywhere in the world now.

“So that’s like a perk of being part of such a big show,” Aditya told IANS, adding that he is waiting for the next opportunity to “find some clear water and dive”.

The actor, known for “Na Aana Is Des Laado” and “Meri Awaaz Hi Pehchaan Hai”, is enjoying being a part of the period drama “Porus”.

Getting used to the elaborate costumes and accessories, Aditya said he was happy to take up the role of a king who is “righteous, dominant and assertive”.

Is that how the actor is in real life too?

“I am a quiet person in real life, and not a man of many words. Even Bamini’s body language and expressions are like that, and that is how I’ve tried to keep it. My mother tells me that I have expressive eyes,” added the actor.

He believes the show, even though set in an era gone by, has lessons to impart and that the youth will enjoy the scale “Porus” offers.

“The takeaway from a show doesn’t see time or era… With every show, they try to convey a message.”

The show airs on Sony Entertainment Television.
