A Lecturer who exploits a Dalit girl was arrested

Kota Vamseeraja (28), a guest lecturer who had lured and sexually exploited a Dalit girl student was arrested by the Rachakonda She Team.

The victim, a 22-year-old girl stays at a private hostel at Chaitanyapuri and studies in a college at Koti where Vamseeraja was a guest lecturer. After promising marriage, the lecturer allegedly exploited her and then dropped her saying they were from different castes, a police official said.

Since February, Vamseeraja became close to the girl on the pretext of clearing her doubts and helping her in academics. About three months ago, Vamseeraja called her to meet him outside her house, picked her up in a car, took her to his house and sexually exploited the girl. This continued for about 3 months.

The Rachakonda police said, “When the girl asked him about marriage, Vamseeraja refused by saying her that his mother would not accept the marriage, as they belonged to different castes. Since the day she asked him about marriage, the accused started avoiding her.”

Based on the girl’s complaint, the She Teams police registered a case against Vamseeraja under sections 376, 417, 420 and 493 of IPC, and sections 3 (1) (r) of 3 (2) (V) of SC and ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act and arrested him.
