London : Australian coach Darren Lehmann, who reported a swollen left calf ahead of the fifth ODI against India in Sydney, has been hospitalized with deep vein thrombosis.
The 45-year-old, who was referred for an immediate scan, was admitted to the Royal Prince Albert Hospital in Sydney for observation overnight during the India’s innings.
Speaking on Lehmann’s condition, Cricket Australia’s chief medical officer John Orchard said the coach was much stable now, but added that he had been advised not to travel at the moment.
Orchard further admitted that Lehmann would take some time before returning back to the coaching role, the Guardian reported.
In the absence of Lehmann, Australia’s batting coach, Michael Di Venuto will look after the team for the upcoming three-match T20 series against India.
The Steve Smith-led side, who won the five-match ODI series 4-1 against India, will now head into the T20 series, starting from Tuesday in Adelaide. (ANI)
