Lobbying for JMI VC post: candidates reach RSS office

New Delhi: Lobbying for the post of Vice Chancellor of Jamia Millia Islamia has begun. Interestingly some candidates have reached RSS office located at New Delhi.

Talat Ahmed has served as the Vice-chancellor of the JMI from May 15, 2014, to August 6 2018. He is now the vice chancellor of Kashmir University. Since Talat Ahmed has left, hunt for new Vice-Chancellor is on. There is a long list of candidates. Intensive lobbying has begun by the candidates.

According to Inquilab, bribe to recommendation every means is being used. Surprisingly a group of candidates has also reached RSS office. According to reports a couple of candidates have been staying there for a month.

On the other hand, Jamia Millia Islamia itself has given two names to the search committee. One is Justice Sohail Ejaz Siddiqui former chairman of National Commission for Minorities Educational Institutions (NCMEI) which gave minority status to Jamia and the other is JNU prof MS Swaminathan. The third member will be recruited by the Human Resource Development Ministry, Govt. of India.

Rumour is rife that Justice Sohail Siddiqui is under RSS pressure but he denied the report and said he has no such pressure. Justice Siddiqui is the one who had restore minority status of Jamia Millia Islamia at that time he had to fight against the then UPA government.
