Lok Sabha bypoll 2018: Virat Kohli’s name in the voter list of Gorakhpur

Gorakhpur: Despite belonging to Delhi, Indian cricket team captain Virat Kohli’s name appeared in the voter list of Gorakhpur Lok Sabha bypoll. This is not the only incident, where some odd names have been counted for the election, scheduled on March 11 in Gorakhpur.

The name of two engineers – Rakesh Kumar and Anil Kumar – who died a year ago have been counted as on duty in Gorakhpur by-election 2018, Indian.com reports. While Virat Kohli’s name and photo are present on one of the slips of voters. His name is also registered as a voter at booth number 153 in Luchui.

The bypoll has been announced when Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath left his seat in Lok Sabha after he was elected as the CM of the state. The counting of votes for Gorakhpur Lok Sabha bypoll will be held on March 14.

District Magistrate Pankaj Shrivastav said that a probe has been launched, as to how Kohli’s name appeared in the list of voters. He also assured of strict action against those found at the mistake.
