A Greek man named Antonis Mavropoulos on Sunday said that he would have been the 150th passenger on the Ethiopian Airlines Boeing 737 which crashed Sunday morning en route from Addis Ababa to Nair.
He was supposed to be a passenger aboard the Ethiopian Airlines, Boeing 737 that crashed on Sunday. He arrived two minutes late for the flight due to which he was not allowed to board the plane.
In his Facebook post, he entitled “My lucky day” which includes a photo of his ticket and said, “I was mad because nobody helped me to reach the gate on time.”
He was supposed to board the plane but he reached the departure gate just two minutes after it was closed. Later the officer told him to pray to God because he was the only passenger that didn’t board the ET 302 flight that went missing.”
The plane took off at 8:38 a.m. (0638 GMT) from Bole International Airport and “lost contact” six minutes later near Bishoftu, a town some 60 kilometres (37 miles) southeast of Addis Ababa by road.
All 157 people on board, belonging to 35 different nationalities, lost their lives after a newly issued Boeing 737 MAX 8 jet of the Ethiopian Airlines crashed.
The Boeing 737-800MAX is the same type of plane as the Indonesian Lion Air jet that crashed last October, 13 minutes after takeoff from Jakarta, killing all 189 people on board.
