Maharashtra: Father files complaint against school’s HM for slapping student

Thane: A case has been registered against school’s headmistress for allegedly slapping an 11-year-old boy for yawning during the morning assembly said an official.

According to the official, the headmistress of a private school located in the Mira Road area allegedly slapped a class 6 student for yawning during the morning assembly prayer on June 22, PTI reported.

The complaint was lodged by the student’s father said Nayanagar’s senior police inspector Balaji Pandhare.

The boy’s father alleged that the HM had earlier scolded his son for not bringing some books following which his son was not willing to go to school on June 20 mentioned. He also said that when he enquired about the same with the HM she replied that if children indulge in mischief “we would punish them”, Pandhare said.

The Police based on the complaint, registered offences against the school headmistress under Indian Penal Code section 323 (voluntarily causing hurt) and provisions of the Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act yesterday.

So far no arrest has been said the police official adding that investigation was going on.
