Maharashtra Governor says “Proud” to belong to RSS, bestows new title ‘Sanghstan’

Maharashtra Governor C Vidyasagar Rao while referring to the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh coined a new term ‘Sanghstan’ leaving everyone puzzled which he used at an event in Nagpur.

He said he was proud to be part of the RSS and stated that the RSS is the most inclusive and secular organisations, as it respected people’s right to practice their faith.

Referring to the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh which is the ideological mentor of the BJP, Mr Rao stated that “Sangsthan, we have all come from there, and we proudly say it also.”

Mr Rao was speaking at the inauguration of a local university, and during his speech, he spoke about the misconceptions about the organisation, including one that maintains that it is not secular.

Mr Rao is a longtime BJP member who has also served in the RSS. He was a minister in Atal Bihari Vajpayee’s government. In August 2013, he was appointed the Governor of Maharashtra and had temporarily held charge of Tamil Nadu.
