Maharashtra: Reaper Malware to infect your devices

Mumbai: The Maharashtra Cybersecurity has issued an advisory to people in order to protect their devices from the Reaper Malware which is increasingly affecting around 10,000 devices daily. Apart from this, the Malware has so far infected around 2 million devices globally.

According to IG Brijesh Singh of Maharashtra Cyber Security, is believed to be the biggest cyber attack since the cyber storm.

Previously, the Malai Malware has infected around 5 million devices but this reaper malware is believed to trigger a bigger cyber storm in comparison to the earlier one.

In layman’s terms the Malware that has already attacked the Mumbai Container Port JNPT and now the Reaper Malware is presumed to prepare an army of Zombi, that is a computer to follow someone else’s instructions as soon as the command is delivered to it.

It is called boatnet in cyber language. Explaining what exactly is Botnet, Cyber Expert Prashant Mali, says it is a kind of computer robot that quietly infects CCTVs, DVRs and routers connected to the second server. These infected devices will work without any lags. But as soon as these devices receive a command from the boatnet, they attack the target system or the server on the target.

Usually Boatnets do these attacks for a ransom or a betel.

According to the sources received around 9 internet companies have already been infected with the IOT operating system, such as Internet-run CCTV and DVR and Router.
Hence the people are advised to update their phones security rather than keeping any default password.
