Malaysia: Activists demand revoking of Dr. Zakir Naik’s permit

Malaysia: The famous Islamic preacher Dr. Zakir Naik is yet again caught in a controversy after 17 Malaysian Human Rights activists have filed a case against him in Kuala Lumpur High Court seeking his permanent residency permit of Malaysia to be revoked.

The activists believe that the country’s diplomatic relations with other countries will be affected if Dr. Zakir Naik’s Malaysian residency permit is not revoked.

The same group-Malay rights group from Perkasa had earlier filed a case to deport Dr.Zakir Naik. the deportation hearing was scheduled on October 21.

Informing the Court that Dr. Zakir Naik is a wanted criminal in India and the cases filed by the Indian Law Enforcement agencies against him, that activists told the High Court that Dr. Zkair Naik is a threat to the national security of Malaysia.

The National Investigative Agency (NIA) who has earlier summoned him multiple times for his statement, is seeking to prosecute Dr. Zakir Naik under sections 120 (B), 153 (a), 295 (a), 298 (a), 505 (2) of IPC and various sections of UAPA (Unlawful Activities Prevention Act). Zakir Naik’s approval under these sections is likely to be approved by the Ministry of Home Affairs.

The famous Indian Islamic preacher has already been made an alleged wanted criminal. The Indian Government has seized his bank accounts and also banned his Islamic Research Foundation.

According to the sources in NIA, a charge sheet is soon to be filed against Zakir Naik.
