Man named- Riaz beaten to death over suspicion of cow slaughter

BHOPAL: A 45-year-old man named- Riaz was allegedly beaten to death by villagers on suspicion of “slaughtering a cow”.

According to media reports, the incident took place on Thursday evening in Madhya Pradesh’s Satna district after people from Amar village saw a group of men with the cattle.

Accusing them of “slaughtering a cow”, the villagers armed with sticks and stones, severely beaten up Riaz, who is a tailor by profession and Shakeel who operates a taxi while other group members had fled th spot.

Later, when the police reached the spot, they found Riaz dead on the spot while his 33-year-old friend Shakeel was found lying seriously injured and was admitted to a hospital in Jabalpur.

“The police found a slaughtered bull and meat of two other bulls packed in sacks from the spot. Satna SP Rajesh Hingankar told the ANI news agency that villagers attacked the duo.

Four of the accused identified as Pawan Singh Gond, Vijay Singh Gond, Phool Singh Gond and Narayan Singh Gond have been taken into custody and cases of attempt to murder were filed against them.

Following the incident, additional police forces have also been deployed in the area.
