Man offers namaz outside Adityanath’s office, video goes viral

LUCKNOW: A man named Rafique Ahmed arrested by Uttar Pradesh police for offering Friday Namaz in the middle of the busy road triggering a traffic jam.

The incident took place outside the UP secretariat when Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath was holding a meeting inside the building.

In the video, which is going viral on social media, a middle-aged man reported to be mentally challenged dressed in white kurta and green turban with a knife tucked in his waist is seen offering namaz on a busy road. Reports further claimed that he indulged in sloganeering against PM Modi.

The incident triggered a severe traffic jam for around 20 minutes on the VVIP road leaving several vehicles stranded.

Lucknow’s Senior Superintendent of Police ordered the registration of an FIR. “He was tracked and arrested for creating nuisance and blocking a road. Further investigations are on,” SSP Kalanidhi Naithani said.

Following the incident, a couple of constables present outside the secretariat were suspended for not stopping the man from offering namaz.
