Gorakhpur: A 25-year-old man was shot dead allegedly by a guest at a marriage ceremony in the Bargadwa area here, police said today.
Arvind Kumar Singh alias Mantu Singh, while having a dinner with his friend and groom Abhishek Singh at the marriage hall yesterday, had an altercation with some guests, following which one among them fired at him.
He was rushed to the BRD medical college where doctors declared him as brought dead.
Singh was a contractor by profession.
“A case has been registered against five people, including two unidentified persons, on the written complaint of deceased’s father,” SSP Satyarth Aniruddh Pankaj said.
“The incident happened when both parties were drunk. We are searching for the accused and have detained several people. We are also looking at the CCTV footage with us,” he said.
