Melbourne: Hollywood actress Margot Robbie has revealed that she feels really proud to be a woman following the “supportive” response in the wake of the sexual harassment allegations against Harvey Weinstein.
According to The Daily Telegraph, the 27-year-old actress, praised the “resilience” of the women who have come forward to accuse the disgraced producer of sexual misconduct.
She said, “Women are so resilient and I think the response to the whole Weinstein situation kind of proved that. To me, when I think of women, I think the word that sums up women so well but isn’t used as often as it should be is resilient.”
The actress also noted that the attitude from other Hollywood stars who want to make a change to the way women are treated has made her “proud to be a woman”.
“It’s astounding how quickly everyone pivoted from being heartbroken about the news to, how do we move forward? How can we move forward? What good can come out of this? Everyone was so supportive immediately and then automatically looking to the future, which made me even more proud to be a woman,” noted Robbie.
The ‘Suicide Squad’ star previously hailed model friend Cara Delevingne as a ‘fierce, brave woman’ for speaking out her own experience of sexual harassment with Harvey Weinstein.
Robbie explained, “Cara is a dear friend of mine and I already knew she was a fierce, brave woman. Today just proved that again.”
The Australian star also believes the whole ordeal is ‘so disturbing and sad’, and she only hopes “good” will come out of the string of claims against the 65-year-old filmmaker.
“I think the whole situation is so disturbing and sad but I think the conversation surrounding it, hopefully, good comes out of it.
The fact that the conversation is so prevalent and so many woman are so bravely coming forward, I think the culture has to change. It cannot be ignored anymore,” noted Robbie.
It should be noted that Margot Robbie will be next seen in ‘I, Tonya’ along side Allison Janney and Sebastian Stan.
