Marriage among same sect may result in “Male Infertility”, claims study

Hyderabad: Reputed scientific institution of the city, Center for Cellular and Molecular Biology (CCMB), a subsidiary of Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) has conducted a study on Indian couples. It was found that there is a trend to marry among the members of the same sect. It is one of the causes of male infertility.

The research study also observed that one out of seven couples in the entire world suffers from infertility. Among these couples, 50% males are infertile.

Other causes of infertility were also mentioned in the study report. They are: low sperm count, lack of sexual urge due to illness or injuries, venereal diseases and lifestyle.

This research study was conducted by a team led by Dr. K. Thangaraj. He carried out this research program during the past two decades.
