Massive loot at Tej Pratap’s wedding; crowd run away with food items, crockery

Patna: RJD chief Lalu Prasad Yadav elder son’s wedding last night witnessed a massive loot as a defiant crowd entered pandal, meant for VIPs and media, and started looting food items. The wedding was being planned as around 7,000 guests were invited to bless the groom Tej Pratap who tied knot with the daughter of RJD MLA Chandrika Rai, Aishwarya on Saturday.

However, just after Tej Pratap and Aishwarya exchanged garlands, a crowd of people believed to be RJD supporters started to loot the food items. The area was left with broken crockery and upturned tables and chairs, a CNN-News18 quoted News Agency PTI as saying.

The report further said that in an attempt to chase away the unruly intruders, several party leaders ran after them with sticks. Media personnel also complained that they were manhandled and their equipment got damaged due to the chaos. Caterers said the people also looted their utensils and organiser of the big fat wedding said that it seemed no proper arrangement was done to organise such a large number of people.

According to a report by Hindustan Times yesterday, 100 cooks were being employed to prepare dinner for guests. The catering head, Manoj Bhatia said that cooks and helpers from Punjab, UP and Bihar were engaged to prepare the dishes. Rooms in top hotels and guesthouses were also booked to accommodate these guests and VIPs who were invited to attend the Bihari wedding.
