Mastung blast: Pak army chief condoles with bereaved families of victims

Quetta: Pakistan’s Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa has expressed condolences to the grieving families of Mastung blast victims.

General Bajwa on Saturday visited Quetta to attend funeral prayers for Balochistan Awami Party (BAP) leader Siraj Raisani, who was among the people killed in the blast that took place on July 13.

He expressed his deepest empathy with all bereaved families of the blast, Director-General Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) Maj Gen Asif Ghafoor tweeted.

The death toll in Friday’s suicide blast in Mastung touched 130, making it one of the single largest terror attacks in the history of Pakistan.

According to the DG ISPR, General Bajwa branded Raisani as “Soldier of Pakistan” and said, “We haven’t yet reached destination of complete peace but near its achievement. We have lost a diehard brave patriot Pakistani who shall be remembered for his commitment and contributions for Pakistan.”

“We as a nation have stood up to the challenges of terrorism and extremism and shall defeat all inimical forces undeterred”, he added.

The army chief also met Raisani’s family and visited Combined Military Hospital (CMH) Quetta, where he inquired after the wounded of Mastung blast.
