Maulana Salman Nadwi strikes off Babri dispute from his agenda

Lucknow: After gaining criticism and getting ousted from All India Muslim Personal Law Board (AIMPLB), for suggesting an out-of-court settlement in Babri Masjid conflict, Maulana Salman Nadwi had disassociated himself from the dispute on Friday.

“I disassociate myself from the Ram Mandir issue. We will wait for the judgement of the court,” Nadvi told ANI on Friday. He had taken the decision one day after meeting with the founder of Art of Living Foundation, Sri Sri Ravi Shankar. On the other hand, Sri Sri had said that the two had spoken about harmonious co-existence of both communities and construction of Ram Temple in Ayodhya.

Nadwi had further said that he would wait for the Supreme Court’s order, he also said that he had taken the decision after AIMPLB’s president Maulana Rabey Hasan Nadwi and Maulana Arshad Madni had shown their disapproval in the matter. He said that people are not ready for the out-of-court settlement.

“People on both the sides, have become abusive. We have always looked forward to SC verdict. But there is no harm in trying for a peaceful solution. Since the majoritarian view on both sides is against it, I strike off the Ram-Janmbhoomi- Babri Masjid dispute from my agenda,” said Nadwi.
