Mayor urges corporators to help make Ramadan festival grand success with gift packs

Hyderabad: GHMC Mayor Dr B. Rammohan today appealed to the Corporators to play pivotal role with responsibility and make all arrangements for the ensuing Ramzan festival. After formation of the Telangana State, the State government has been celebrating all festivals like Ramzan, Christmas, Bonalu on grand scale duly taking a lot of initiatives for the convenience of the citizens, irrespective of caste and creed.

The Mayor said the State government, in coordination with the Minority Commissions was going to distribute two lakh gift packs to the Muslim brethren as a part of Ramzan celebrations in the mosques under the GHMC limits in coordination with the Corporators and Deputy Commissioners concerned for distribution of the same to the citizens.

The Mayor, Deputy Mayor, corporators, Commissioner B. Janardhan Reddy, Advisor to Govt on Minorities Welfare A.K. Khan, along with senior officials held a review meeting at the GHMC Head Office today on making elaborate arrangements for the ensuing Ramzan festival. The Mayor said the GHMC has taken up a lot of works like road repairs, filling potholes, reviving streetlights, installing temporary streetlights in lanes and bylanes wherever mosques are located. The Corporators must coordinate with the Dy Municpal Commissioners concerned for distribution of the gift packs to the beneficiaries near the mosques, he said, adding that every Deputy Commissioner has been entrusted with five divisions each for smooth conduct of the distribution of gift packs during the Ramzan festival.

A.K. Khan interacted with the Corporators and assured them all help to them. Deputy Mayor Baba Fasiuddin also spoke.

Dr B. Janardhan Reddy said since the past two months, the GHMC has conducting regular meetings at the zonal and circle offices with the Corporators concerned for the works to be taken up for the Ramzan festival and also regularly conducting convergence meetings for proper coordination in making the festival grand success.

Zonal Commissioners Hari Chandana, Srinivas Reddy, Raghu Prasad, Shankaraiah, Nawaz Khasim, Director Minorities Welfare and senior officials of the GHMC have attended the meeting. (NSS)
