Meet Tahera Rahman, America’s first Hijab-clad news reporter

The Quad Cities [US]: Tahera Rahman (27) became the first hijab-clad full-time TV reporter of America. Rahman, a resident of West Suburban Naperville is a television trailblazer at CBS affiliate WHBF in the Quad Cities. Earlier, she worked as a news producer.

According to the report published in CBS Chicago, she had already joined the reporting job. Expressing her happiness, Tahera’s mother, Durdana Rahman said that it is a big achievement for community and women. She also feels pride due to her daughter’s determination. Durdana further said that she always had faith in her daughter.

It is also reported that Tahera’s family visited Quad Cities to watch her first report. It is the big achievement of Tahera as even her colleagues told her that she might face difficulties in getting an on-air job due to her “Hijab”.

It may be mentioned that earlier, she faced a lot of rejections at news stations. At a particular moment, she decided to give up but her mother supported her to continue towards her dream. Her achievement will be an inspiration for people belonging to minority communities, Ms. Durdana added.

Talking about her achievement, Tahera said that she never thought it was a possibility, QuadCities reported.
