Mehvish, the first Kashmiri woman to run a cafe

SRINAGAR: When men do something bigger, then they are the heroes. But if the hero is the woman who stands on her feet or do things on her own… Then ego hits somebody to accept that fact.

That’s what happened with the twenty-five-year-old Mehvish, a casual girl opened her own ‘The ME ‘N’ U Cafe’ in Srinagar, the capital of Kashmir with the help of a mother and her two siblings and established her own place in the society.

Mehvish, a law graduate was only seven years old when her father died of cancer and go through many troubles since then but Mehvish did not gave up on her dream.

The cafe– first in Kashmir capital has become a hotspot for youngsters in Srinagar who say they feel a “connection” to the ambience at Mehvish’s cafe.

When woman is changing the norm, then it is natural that criticism comes and will come but their words could not have had any effect on Mavish.

“There are people who always critise because they cannot see a woman do things on her own. I ignore them,” Mehvish said, as reported by India Today.

An initiative from Mehvish has shown to inspired many young women in the Valley.
