Meira Kumar accuses KCR of murdering constitution

Hyderabad: Lok Sabha former Speaker Meira Kumar has charged the TRS government with murdering the Constitution in the infant State. Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao slipped his word of making a Dalit as first Chief Minister of the Telangana State, she said and questioned the latter whether Dalits are not eligible to rule the State.

In an informal chat with scribes at a hotel here on Monday, Meira Kumar slammed KCR saying that the latter sacked Deputy Chief Minister Dr T Rajaiah and expelled Congress Dalit MLA SA Sampath Kumar along with Komatireddy Venakt Reddy from the Assembly without any valid reason. Claiming that attempts were on in Telangana State to take away the freedom of speech from the people, Meira said the Centre has not only failed to strengthen the SC, ST Atrocities (Prevention) Act but also was trying to weaken the Act.

The former Speaker of Lok Sabha said the government policies and the unsavory incidents taking place in Telangana were disappointing. “The intimacy I have with Telangana State cannot be linked with electoral politics”, she added. (NSS)
