Hyderabad: #MeToo campaign has gained momentum across the country. Now, a Tollywood actress has levelled serious allegations against an MLA in Telangana State.
Telugu film actress Sri Reddy levelled sexual harassment allegations against TRS MLA of Armoor, Mr A. Jeevan Reddy. This is the first incident of #MeToo which has come to limelight in Telangana State.
It may be mentioned that Ms Sri Reddy had recently resorted to stripping protest against sexual harassment in the Telugu film industry.
Now, on her Facebook account, she posted that Mr Jeevan Reddy not only harassed her in a star hotel in Banjara Hills but also molested other film actresses. The actress also said that she will expose other names as well in due course.
She claimed that Mr Jeevan Reddy used to contact girls on the telephone from a star hotel at Banjara Hills posing himself as a film producer. She alleged that the MLA used to promise them to get a chance in the film industry.
Ms Sri Reddy told that Mr Jeevan Reddy had contacted her through Producer B. Suresh. The actress further told that she had met Jeevan Reddy in a hotel who offered her various roles in movies.
Supporting her claim, the actress wrote that Mr Jeevan Reddy has a room and villa booked permanently in a star hotel at Banjara Hills.
She has requested TRS authorities to probe into the matter and also expressed her willingness to cooperate. Mr Jeevan Reddy is unfit to be a public servant, she added.
Meanwhile, Mr Jeevan Reddy denied the allegations levelled against him. Mr Reddy said that he never met her. He did not say anything more on this issue and promised that he would arrange a press conference at an appropriate time to reveal the facts.
