Hyderabad: Telangana government has decided to add 10 new dishes to the mid-day meals in state-run schools.
The new items will include peas pulao, vegetable biryani, soya meal-maker biryani, khichdi with drumstick leaves and moong dal; along with previously served eggs, saambhar, dal and vegetables, quotes Telangana Today.
“The food menu has been revised after suggestions of the JRM. Depending on availability of provisions, the schools must provide any one of these food items to students. District Education Officers have been already instructed to implement the revised menu,” a senior official said.
The Directorate of School Education issued orders to all government schools in this regard. Following suggestions from the Joint Review Mission team, the existing menu was reviewed and suggestions were made.
A per the Directorate, about 25 lakh students take mid-day meals in schools on a daily basis.
