Ministers excited over India Today Agri award

Health Minister Dr C Lakshma Reddy and Tribal Welfare Minister A Chandulal today greeted Agriculture Minister Pocharam Srinivas Reddy for bagging “India Today Agri Award” for its flagship programs and welfare schemes in the State.

In separate statements, the ministers said under the leadership of Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao, the agriculture minister was making relentless efforts to make faming activity a festival. The national award speaks volumes on the efforts of the State government for turning agriculture into benefit making activity. They further said the State government has launched the prestigious Rs 4,000 per acre scheme which is first of its kind in the country. This scheme, they said, will be a bonanza for the farmers, who are need not borrow money from money lenders and small businessmen in the villages.

“The entire nation was looking at our State as it was going ahead with innovative schemes which are likely to be replicated by other States”, the ministers said. A total of Rs 8,000 per acre per annum being offered by the government to the farmers to go in for agriculture and make better harvesting, they said. In addition to that, the KCR Government was also going to launch farmer insurance scheme from August 15 to help the farmers in the State. They also said 24-hour power supply to farming, fertilisers and seed are in adequate stocks to help boost agriculture. Thus, the new State of Telangana will flourish in terms of farming and benefiting the farmers in a big way. (NSS)
