Minor raped on I-Day, actress Divyanka says, ‘scared to have daughter’

MUMBAI: After learning about minor gets gang rape on Independence Day eve, TV actress Divyanka Tripathi is scared about giving birth to a daughter.

A 12 year old girl was allegedly gang raped at knife point when she was on way to home after attending I-Day celebrations at school in Chandigarh.

The ‘Yeh Hai Mohabbatein’ actress took to Twitter and tagged PM Modi in her post questioning him about his ‘Beti Bachao‘ campaign which failed on the Independence day.

In a passionate tweet, the ‘Nach Baliye 8’ winner wrote: “Kya Beti Bachao? Ab beti ko bachao. Bete ki chahat nahin hai, par ab darti hoon beti paida karne se. Kya Kahungi, kyu usey swarg se nark ki dehshat mein dhakela. (What about the beti bachao campaign. Now save the girl. I don’t desire to have a son, but now I fear having a daughter. What will I tell her that why did I pushed her to hell from heaven?”

Divyanka Tripathi also wrote, “Why don’t we give gruesome punishments for gruesome crimes? Yet another rape! What independence are we talking about? Women must stop voting for any party as they are so unimportant for this nation! It’s a ‘No Woman’s Land’ or a #RapistsParadise we live in!”
