Hyderabad: House Committee of the Dept. of Welfare expressed its wrath over the malfunctioning of various wings of the Dept. The Committee was of the opinion that there is no culture of accountability.
The meeting was held under the chairmanship of Mr. Amer Shakeel, TRS MLA of Bodhan. It was attended by Mr. Mohammed Farooq Husain, Mr. Mohammed Saleem, Mr. Vinay Bhaskar, Mr. Akbaruddin Owaisi, Mr. Ameenul Hasan Jafri and Mr. Stephenson. The agenda of the meeting included wakf affairs and the functioning of Minorities Finance Corporation but the officials failed to furnish the relevant information. The members expressed their anger. Mr. Syed Omer Jaleel, IAS, Secretary, Dept. of Minorities Welfare also could not satisfy the members of the committee.
Mr. Akbaruddin Owaisi gave the details of irregularities of Wakf Board, Minorities Finance Corporation and Minorities Residential schools. He reminded the chairman of Wakf Board, Mr. Mohammed Saleem and secretary of Minorities Residential Schools, Mr. Shafiullah about the regulations of the Assembly. The committee had decided the details of all the Wakf properties and suggested to reform the functioning
The committee members told that Wakf Board has become the center for agents and brokers.
It was decided that the members of the committee will visit Warangal on 21st September to review the status of wakf properties and illegal possessions.
After the meeting, Mr. Amer Shakeel, Chairman of the committee briefed the press reporters and said that the committee has recommended merging computer centers and libraries run by the Wakf Board into Minorities Finance Corporation and other institutions. He also said that steps would be taken to get Wakf properties registered into revenue records during the period from 15th September to 15th December when the survey work will be done.
Mr. Shakeel further told that for the first time in 80 years, a comprehensive survey is being done. If this time, Wakf properties are not covered under revenue survey, in future, Wakf properties would not be protected. He told that new Qazi Act would be formulated for Telangana. All the Minorities’ institutions would be shifted to the new complex which is under construction. Instructions have been issued to start the construction work of Aneesul-Ghuraba complex. Govt. has not transferred 4000 sq. yards to Wakf Board so far. The committee also instructed to complete the renovation work of Makkah Masjid soon. It was also decided to raise the income limit of Rs.2 lakh to Rs. 6 lakh for the students selected for undergoing coaching for civil services.
