Minors rescued from child marriage in Hyderabad

Hyderabad: Police today rescued a minor boy and girl after their marriage was allegedly performed at Pedda Amberpet here on February 1 by their parents.

The boy aged 16 and the girl 13 have been rescued following the alleged marriage and their parents have been taken into custody after they were found performing other customary rituals, said a release issued by Rachakonda police commissionerate today.

Both the children will be sent to rescue home after producing them before Child Welfare Committee, the release said, adding a case is being registered under Child Marriage Prohibition Act.
