Miss Iraq reveals she received ‘death threats’

Media activist and Miss Iraq Shaimaa Qasem says she was threatened by activists and also received various death threats.

Shaina renowned Iraqi fashion model who also won Miss Iraqi title in 2015 revealed about the death threats in her short live video on social networking apps and also said she received a message which read “your turn is coming,” MEM reported.

“Is it our fault that we are famous on social media,” she asks, adding “we are being slaughtered like chickens?”, referring to the recent assassinations carried out on women activists in the Arab country.

Her video came amidst the uproar in Iraq were on Thursday a fashion model and blogger Tarra Fares was assassinated inside her luxurious car in the Iraqi capital, Baghdad.

And two days prior to her assassination, Suad Al-Ali, a civil society activist, was also shot dead in Iraq’s Basra while two other beauticians Rasha Al-Hassan and Rafif Al-Yasiri, both were reported dead “in mysterious circumstances.”

None of the killings have reached final cause or motive of assassinations revealed Police sources.
