Modi, KCR conspired to deprive voting rights to lakhs of people: Uttam

Hyderabad: Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) President N. Uttam Kumar Reddy has alleged that Prime Minister Narender Modi and caretaker Chief Minister K. Chandrashekhar Rao together conspired to deprive lakhs of people of their voting rights by advancing the Assembly elections.

Addressing the Hyderabad Merger Day celebrations after hoisting the national flag at Gandhi Bhavan on Monday, Uttam Kumar Reddy said that both BJP Government at the Centre and TRS Government in Telangana were trying to throttle democracy in the State. He said deletion of 20-30 lakh names from the electoral rolls was not incidental, but a deliberate move as part of a larger conspiracy. He alleged that Modi-KCR duo also tried to connive with Election Commission of India to implement their conspiracy. However, he said that the Congress party would not allow this conspiracy to work and would fight until each and every eligible citizen gets enrolled in the voters’ list. He demanded that elections for Telangana Assembly be held only after carrying out all corrections in the electoral rolls.

Uttam Kumar Reddy said that it was the Congress party which fought for country’s independence and also merged Hyderabad State into Indian Union. Again it was the Congress party which granted statehood for Telangana. He predicted that the next government in Telangana would be of Congress party.

The TPCC chief said after India got independence on August 15, 1947, the then Prime Minister Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru and Home Minister Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel merged Hyderabad into Indian Union after Police Action. He said the last Nizam Mir Osman Ali Khan was in favour of merging Hyderabad with Pakistan and he had unleashed a reign of terror on common people through Razakars of Qasim Razvi. But the then Congress Government initiated Police Action and Hyderabad was finally merged with Indian Union on 17th September, 1948. He also slammed KCR for going back on his promise of celebrating Hyderabad Liberation Day at official level after coming to power.

Uttam Kumar Reddy alleged that the TRS had completely crushed people’s freedom. He said leaders of public organisations like Prof. Haragopal, Prof. Kodandaram, Varavara Rao and others were being harassed using police. He said those elderly people were even beaten up by the police. He said entire democracy has been put in peril by harassing four crore people just to please four-members of KCR family. In order to save democracy under present circumstances, he said it was essential that the Congress party returns to power. He announced that the Dharna Chowk would be restored within 10 days after Congress party winning next elections. He said the next Congress Government, in consultation with people’s organisations, would establish a mechanism wherein every individual or organisation would be free to express views on anything.

The TPCC chief said that the Congress party, if voted to power, would announce a new PRC within one month for government employees. He said besides creating lakhs of jobs, at least 10 lakh youth would be given unemployment allowance of Rs. 3,000 per month. He also explained other measures which Congress party plans to take after winning next elections.

Reacting to Minister K. Tarakarama Rao’s question why opposition parties want to dislodge TRS Government, he said people must dethrone KCR for not fulfilling the promise of making a Dalit CM; For not giving three acres of land to poor Dalit and Girijan families; For not implementing 12% reservation for Muslims and STs and for making Telangana No. 1 State in debts, sale of liquor and farmers’ suicides.
RTC would be merged with State Govt

Uttam Kumar Reddy announced that after coming to power, the next Congress Government would merge the Road Transport Corporation into the government as all its employees would get salaries, perks and other benefits on par with State Government staff.
He was speaking after receiving a memorandum from TSRTC Staff & Workers Union leader Abraham at Gandhi Bhavan today.

The TPCC Chief said no recruitments took place in RTC since 2011. He assured that the next Congress Government would fill all vacancies and ensure job security for all the existing employees by merging the corporation with State Government.

Uttam visits Chanchalguda Jail to meet Jagga Reddy

Later in the day, Uttam Kumar Reddy, along with other senior leaders including Dr. J. Geetha Reddy, Damodar Raj Narasimha, Gudur Narayana Reddy and others, visited Chanchalguda Jail to meet ex-MLA T. Jayaprakash Reddy alias Jagga Reddy. Speaking to media persons later, he said that Jagga Reddy has been implicated in a false case by TRS Government. He said he had assured Jagga Reddy that entire Congress party was behind him and he need not worry about anything. He said that the Congress party, after coming to power, would not spare the police officials who are wrongly targeting the Congress leaders and workers.
