Mohammed Saleem calls meeting to end marriage celebrations before midnight

Hyderabad: The initiative taken by Waqf Board Chairman Mohammed Saleem to persuade people to conduct marriage functions on time and avoid unnecessary rituals, is getting an overwhelming response from various quarters.

In this connection Waqf Board Chairman has called a meeting of scholars, clerics, qazis and police on January 23, at Hajj House. The meeting aims at taking measures to end the marriage function by 12 in the night. Besides creating awareness in this regard, with the help of police marriage function owners will be restricted to end the ceremony by 12 midnight. It has been noted that late night functions give rise to several evils and crimes. Recently two youth died while dancing with weapons in the baraat procession. Police has decided to strictly deal against use of weapons while dancing.

Apart from that qazis will also be obligated to avoid solemnizing Nikah after 9 pm, while creating awareness among public regarding benefits of early conduct of Nikah.
