Moon sighted, Muharram starts marking beginning of Islamic New Year

Lucknow (Uttar Pradesh) [India]: The Lucknow’s Markazi Chand Committee on Thursday announced that Muharram will be observed tomorrow as the moon has been sighted earlier today.

According to the committee, due to the early sighting of the moon, the date for Ashura would now be observed on October 1 (Sunday).

The sighting of the new crescent moon will mark the beginning of new Hijri year 1439 from tomorrow.

Meanwhile, the new Islamic year moon has already been sighted in Gulf, European and many other countries. (ANI)
