Hyderabad (Telangana): The mother of a 22-year-old stranded in Malaysia has sought help from External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj to bring her son back to the country.
“I request Sushma Swaraj to rescue my son Shariaaz from there (Malaysia),” Shameem said while speaking to ANI.
“My son Shariaaz went to Malaysia on October 29, 2017, after an agent here in Hyderabad promised him a job with a good salary. The agent said my son will be sent on a visitors visa and after going to Malaysia it will be converted to job visa,” she said.
Shameem further said the agent took Rs 1.5 lakh from them as “processing fees.”
“After going to Malaysia my son worked there in a company for two to three months. Later, the company was closed and his passport was not given back to him by the Malaysian agent,” she alleged.
Shameem continued, “Later, he approached the Indian Embassy, they said it will take time to send him back to India as there are many others. My son has overstayed there in Malaysia and for that, he was fined by the local authorities.”
“We can’t afford to pay the fine in Malaysia,” she said while pleading for help from Swaraj.
