Move to set up Christian Board for protection of churches’ assets

House Committee on Minority Welfare has discussed on the establishment of Christian Board on the lines of Wakf Board and Endowment Department to protect the Church assets.

 

Speaking to media after the first meeting of the House Committee at Assembly Hall here on Wednesday, Minority Welfare Committee Chairman Shakil Ahmed said the Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao was keen on establishing Christian Board to protect the assets of Churches by bringing them to uniform forum. He said the meeting also discussed on construction of a building in Ajmer Dargah for the sake of Telangana pilgrims. He said the government has already allotted Rs 5 crore for the the building. He said the Welfare Committee also discussed on the enhancement of financial assistance to the students interested to pursue their studies oversees from Rs 10 lakh to Rs 25 lakh.

The meeting also discussed on the issue of providing best coaching facility to the Minority students for Civil Services in private institutes like RC Reddy Study Circle. He said they will tour Delhi on August 9 and ask the Hamdurdh Coaching Center, which gives good coaching for the Civil Services aspirants, to establish its branch in Hyderabad. The Committee members MIM floor leader Akbaruddin Owaisi, MLCs Salim and Farooq Hussain, MLAs D Vinay Bhasker and LV Stephenson participated in the meeting.  (NSS)
